smart casual

You could say that I'm getting old (I'm hitting the milestone of 21) or you could say that I've finally realised that dressing smart can look pretty fabulous and not so lame! I plucked up the courage and finally invested in a smart-ish jacket that will work in my favour when it comes to those days that I don't fancy looking like the 14 year old girl that I usually look like! It makes a change considering I'm a fur coat sort of lover (faux fur may I add!) and that denim jackets take up about 70% of my jacket situation in the wardrobe. I'm loving how both designer and the high street are all over this smart jacket trend these days, especially when it comes in a boyfriend blazer fit like this tartan one in this outfit grid!

This jacket is than ideal when smartening up a look such as when it comes those scary interviews that you never quite know what to wear! I find myself in that situation a lot of the time and it is crazy to think that one statement piece like this jacket could pretty much make a smart look! Plus smarter jackets even work for a laid back casual look with those torn jeans! Mmm! This outfit grid pretty much consists of black (just like my whole wardrobe) but just shows how classy black can look when you go to the opposite end of the scale rather than the emo scale. I tend to go for the more emo looking black ( I have no shame, I'm a sucker for stripes and black velvet) but smart black is going to make up a huge proportion of my wardrobe this season and boy oh boy, I am excited!

Is it me or did Vanessa Hudgens become the queen of ultimate cool over night? I seriously don't know where/when/why/how she changed from looking like the timid High School Musical gal to one of my style and beauty icons. Her whole look is effortlessly fabulous with a mix match of bohemian style and a forceful kick of grunge at the same time which kind of sounds like a horrible combination but I appreciate this a lot! Hudgens shows us how such a hybridised style can work so well together whilst maintaining the natural fresh-faced girl next door look that we all remember Hudgens being whilst growing up. Here are my top Hudgens picks, festival and holiday goers take a tip out of her look book and you will look rad as fuck.

Hope you're all enjoying the sun, I'm loving it more than life right now it is absolutely b e a u t i f u l! I've just finished my internship at a pr&marketing company and now I have one more week in Cardiff to chill before I get back to Birmingham and start some more work & work experience! So basically fingers crossed that mr sun doesn't decide to fuck off! Today I've been chilling with Ryan x2 and Eira, we went on a massive road trip blasting A Day To Remember and chilled out on a few beaches which was really nice considering Birmingham doesn't have that beach life to offer. We've just finished our cute BBQ and now they're all watching football and I cannot cope with that nonsense so I've turned to my mac to create a cheeky little lust list for you guys to lurk on! Everything on here is absolutely perfect for sunny days, I know you're probably thinking how is a jumper ideal? Don't worry, I've thought this through! Number one, it's Kenzo, number two it is perrrfeeeccctooo for late nights in the sun!

Whats the sun making you lust over? Any clothes in particular, or is it only me that the sun has that impact on?

One thing that I'm absolutely loving right now is colour clashing. The bolder the clash the better in my eyes! Red and turquoise work so unwell together that it makes it quite well? Plus I am completely and utterly in love with this dress! Motel do nothing wrong in my eyes and this dress is just absolute proof of this. Me and the girls in my house are planning a ridiculous house party this weekend and this dress just seems so perfect for it, I'll be keeping my eye out to see if anything beats it but I can see that being quite a tough task! The bag featured in this look is so pretty and handy at the same time, especially when I'm the sort of girl that carries so much in her bag! I always struggle to find a bag that feels sturdy enough for my SLR and polaroid camera so often avoid taking them out at the same time, but this one looks cute as fuck and secure at the same time! Vagabond boots are still something that I have not got in my life. I don't understand why I haven't made a purchase yet because they are just fucking beautiful gah! They will be next, I promise! When it comes to jewellery, Vivienne Westwood accessories are an essential for every girl, with my 21st this year Viv's will be all over my wishlist.

Are you a colour clasher or not?

sunshine

So today is the day that I have handed in my final assignment, and with no exams this time round I am more than pleased to say that I have finished my second year of uni! Luckily, the sun is shining which means playing around with clothes can get a bit more interesting over the next few days! Today however, I'm slumped in bed because everyone else is busy with exams/deadlines and I'm trying to catch up on sleep before I celebrate the end of second year tonight. Instead of sleeping though, I'm coming up with looks and todays is Bohemian Madness.

At 5'4 (ish) I've always feared the long skirt. It's something that I thought only the taller ladies could get away with, and it was only last week that I purchased my first one! I'm so glad that I did, I might be their number one fan now, especially when they come in loud vibrant prints. The one above fits this criteria, this one has a very Vanessa Hudgens bohemian vibe to it which I absolutely love. The colours are amazing to play around with, especially when it comes to clashing!

This is where the clashing comes in, mixing with a purple shade of lipstick and peach nail varnish it all just sounds like a crazy horrific mix, right? But I think it really works with this look as it all works together to create an incredibly bold statement look, the crazier the better! When it comes to makeup on days where it is this hot, I tent to stay away from applying much of it and just have my sunglasses glued to my face instead. Well not literally glued, because that would be weird I guess, but sunglasses do have a lot of potential to make or break your outfit and the circular shape ones work so well here! The arm cuff is my favourite part of this outfit, I absolutely love them and feel they can add some very amazing final touches to a look.

What do you reckon, is there a space in your wardrobe for the long skirt this summer?

Sunday Wishlist

sunday wishlist

You know how I said I was going to do loads of work today? And I even came up with a playlist to get me through it? Yeah, well that didn't happen. Woops. Instead I'm just getting ready for bed and thought I'd do a cheeky little wish list, just so you can all see what I'm quite fancying right now!

We've luckily had a few days of sunshine which has been absolutely fabulous! We all know British weather though, and how it is so unpredictable and we've unfortunately been graced with heaps of rain today. Typical on my day off work right? So I guess this wish list is my way of latching onto any glimmer of hope that there will be some more sunshine this week!

These shorts are the main statement piece, and they are absolutely stunning! The colours and the cut both work so well together leaving a serious bohemian feel to them. Statement shorts are something that I can see myself investing in for this Summer, the louder the better in my eyes! With something so bold in the grid, I thought mixing it up with simple jewellery and accessories would be the best! The Vivienne Westwood watch and handbag are things that I have been lusting over for such a long long time, Viv can do no wrong! I've also been keen on the Pandora birth stone ring for as long as I can remember, its so dainty and sweet - two things that I absolutely love when it comes to rings! Being a December baby means I can luckily get my hands on a turquoise blue stone - which is my fave colour! When it comes to the shoes, you can probably tell from all my posts I am a huge lover of the chunky sort! Even on warm days I love boots, they look super sassy and these ones from Asos are heaaaven! Pairing them up with a pair of frilly socks peaking through the boot would literally add the final touches to this outfit. How about the the lace cami crop? Well yeah, I  may just have to make it a cheeky little purchase before I start work tomorrow. Lace + cami + crop, need I say more?

The Jelly Shoe Debate

jelly shoe debate

Jelly shoes are extremely popular at the minute and I am a huge huge fan! They look so cute and feminine and look so perfect on summery days! I remember when I was a little girl I had many pairs and my mom told me how ridiculously cheap they were and how I used to wear them with frilly socks. Something I would even do today! With brands like JuJu offering them at quite an expensive price, it is not hard to see why people think they are not worth the money. I mean realistically they are just plastic shoes, but plastic shoes that look amazing! Shop around, places like New Look offer alternatives for a fraction of the price which is fab! They are really nice to style up when it comes to wearing summery dresses and jeans. In my view they are fucking amazing. What do you think? Are you a fan of the jelly shoe, yes or no?
