VIVIENNE WESTWOOD STOLE MY HEART - AGAIN

March 26, 2015

So last week I was lucky enough to get an invite to the St Davids Shopping Centre Spring/Summer 2015 bloggers event. It was at the lovely Wahaca, which weirdly as a self-proclaimed Mexican food addict I had never been to before! But I mainly put that down to the popularity of it, it is always pretty much impossible to get a table there so it was nice to finally give it a go - shows they're doing something right though I guess. It was nice to catch up with other bloggers over heck loads of champagne to see what they have ready for Spring/Summer 2015, and it was nice to have a chit chat with the St Davids stylists too. But I'll tell you what was super nice, getting an insight to what the queen of everything, Vivienne Westwood, has waiting for us.

I've always been a fan of Westwood for as long as I can remember. If you know me well in the slightest then you probably know that culture is one of my biggest fascinations, probably stems down to the degree that I am doing. Every opportunity I've had to explore this magnificent lady I have pretty much jumped on it, I feel bad for those who have had to mark my essays - "Vivienne Westwood this, Vivienne Westwood that"! She is pretty much a British cultural fashion icon who pushes boundaries and makes very bold political and cultural statements with her pieces. What a sassy gal, ey?

What I found interesting when talking to the guys from Vivienne Westwood is how easily we (especially students) get scared of price tags that come along with names like hers. When putting it into perspective though, I realised that spending £40 on a pair of jeans from Topshop which is absolute bunk quality is quite ridiculous. I could put in the extra £50 and ensure fabulous quality, oh and a designer label at the same time. All I can say is, never let the name put you off! Loads of her pieces are versatile too, she designs her stuff so garms can be warn in different ways but you can still make a statement at the same time. Oh and if you're a full on accessory junkie like me, her stuff is more than worth checking out! I have two sets of her earrings and a necklace - they are more than worth the money because I pretty much live in them! Next on the list, I'll defo be investing in one of her gems of a bag.

Hope you enjoy the snaps!

smart casual

You could say that I'm getting old (I'm hitting the milestone of 21) or you could say that I've finally realised that dressing smart can look pretty fabulous and not so lame! I plucked up the courage and finally invested in a smart-ish jacket that will work in my favour when it comes to those days that I don't fancy looking like the 14 year old girl that I usually look like! It makes a change considering I'm a fur coat sort of lover (faux fur may I add!) and that denim jackets take up about 70% of my jacket situation in the wardrobe. I'm loving how both designer and the high street are all over this smart jacket trend these days, especially when it comes in a boyfriend blazer fit like this tartan one in this outfit grid!

This jacket is than ideal when smartening up a look such as when it comes those scary interviews that you never quite know what to wear! I find myself in that situation a lot of the time and it is crazy to think that one statement piece like this jacket could pretty much make a smart look! Plus smarter jackets even work for a laid back casual look with those torn jeans! Mmm! This outfit grid pretty much consists of black (just like my whole wardrobe) but just shows how classy black can look when you go to the opposite end of the scale rather than the emo scale. I tend to go for the more emo looking black ( I have no shame, I'm a sucker for stripes and black velvet) but smart black is going to make up a huge proportion of my wardrobe this season and boy oh boy, I am excited!

One thing that I'm absolutely loving right now is colour clashing. The bolder the clash the better in my eyes! Red and turquoise work so unwell together that it makes it quite well? Plus I am completely and utterly in love with this dress! Motel do nothing wrong in my eyes and this dress is just absolute proof of this. Me and the girls in my house are planning a ridiculous house party this weekend and this dress just seems so perfect for it, I'll be keeping my eye out to see if anything beats it but I can see that being quite a tough task! The bag featured in this look is so pretty and handy at the same time, especially when I'm the sort of girl that carries so much in her bag! I always struggle to find a bag that feels sturdy enough for my SLR and polaroid camera so often avoid taking them out at the same time, but this one looks cute as fuck and secure at the same time! Vagabond boots are still something that I have not got in my life. I don't understand why I haven't made a purchase yet because they are just fucking beautiful gah! They will be next, I promise! When it comes to jewellery, Vivienne Westwood accessories are an essential for every girl, with my 21st this year Viv's will be all over my wishlist.

Are you a colour clasher or not?

Sunday Wishlist

sunday wishlist

You know how I said I was going to do loads of work today? And I even came up with a playlist to get me through it? Yeah, well that didn't happen. Woops. Instead I'm just getting ready for bed and thought I'd do a cheeky little wish list, just so you can all see what I'm quite fancying right now!

We've luckily had a few days of sunshine which has been absolutely fabulous! We all know British weather though, and how it is so unpredictable and we've unfortunately been graced with heaps of rain today. Typical on my day off work right? So I guess this wish list is my way of latching onto any glimmer of hope that there will be some more sunshine this week!

These shorts are the main statement piece, and they are absolutely stunning! The colours and the cut both work so well together leaving a serious bohemian feel to them. Statement shorts are something that I can see myself investing in for this Summer, the louder the better in my eyes! With something so bold in the grid, I thought mixing it up with simple jewellery and accessories would be the best! The Vivienne Westwood watch and handbag are things that I have been lusting over for such a long long time, Viv can do no wrong! I've also been keen on the Pandora birth stone ring for as long as I can remember, its so dainty and sweet - two things that I absolutely love when it comes to rings! Being a December baby means I can luckily get my hands on a turquoise blue stone - which is my fave colour! When it comes to the shoes, you can probably tell from all my posts I am a huge lover of the chunky sort! Even on warm days I love boots, they look super sassy and these ones from Asos are heaaaven! Pairing them up with a pair of frilly socks peaking through the boot would literally add the final touches to this outfit. How about the the lace cami crop? Well yeah, I  may just have to make it a cheeky little purchase before I start work tomorrow. Lace + cami + crop, need I say more?
